My Journey to Kerala! God's own country!
June 03,2006 .Time 4:00 pm.
A train from Bangalore to Trivandrum arrived at the Trivandrum station. With mixed feelings of excitement and fear, I put my first step on the railway station.
I guess I was excited since I was going to move to a new phase of life.Everything around me was going to change , my office environment,my circle of friends,my food habits,my weekend plans..I was about to move to a new world!
I was scared since I was under the dilemma if I had made the right decision.
I had a good job,nice salary,cosy family then what was it that made me take this decision?
Mid March,
From the past 6 months I am working on the same projects www.kizz.com and www.hutchalert.co.in.
One A wap site for a mobile phone having features to download,upload,change images,clips,sounds,movies and having features to add friends. Hey does'nt it sound failiar to www.orkut.com?
Another a site made by us and now under maintenance.The everyday calls from the client regarding customer complaints.Constantly checking the logs, coming on sundays to solve client issues....
Hey Simon,you again finding faults at our design every now and then and then me correcting it and re- designing the entire thing.The same bizcase,usecase,..Phew!Enough! I am fed up of it.Staying on saturdays too till night.No personal life !
That was the moment I decided to change my life completely! The first thing I decided was to change my job!
June 03,2006 .Time 4:40 pm.
Auto arrived at the Kowdiar Guest House. The house keeper took me to 8th floor. There were these bunch of guys all from north part of india. I was so much at ease after meeting them especially puneet who was full of energy that day and gregarious. They had arrived 3-4 days before. They started telling me about Trivandrum.Actually started critisizing Trivandrum,trivandrum had no proper food,city closes early,etc.Hey I thought the city cannot be so bad after all!!!!!

STD Booth: The lady at the STD Booth says.Sorry the booth is closed.we close at 6:00! This was my first brush with the City!!!
June 05,2006 .Time 8:13 am.
Wearing formal shirt,pant with tie I was standing along with the people at guest house.My heart was taking small beats.My first day at Infosys.How is it going to be?
After 1/2 hour I was at the infosys gate. As soon as i entered reception, I loved the place.I was hoping my stay too would be great.
June 10,2006 .Time 10:13 am.
I had shifted to Pangaparra. Nice bungalow like flat.9 of us were staying. I and 2 of our friends came out of the house to search for breakfast or something to eat. We were walking ,walking,walking... 1.5 kms and now we finally found a place.A small shop which had some maggi and 2-3 packets of milk. We then walked back the 1.5 km. Hmmm...Here was I far from my house,in a house where we cannot get any food items easily. Same Question again came to mind 'Was I right in my decision?'.Like a child who learns to walk, I was beginning to learn to live away from the protection of my family.
June 18,2006 .Time 2:30 am.
I hardly new anybody in my Office. Had lost 3 kgs by now. Here was I on the bus,going to varkala on a project party. They had divided the 75+ people into 4 teams and I was made the team lead of one team. We had 3 games and then went to the beach,played more games.Slowly I was beginning to know people around.
At the end of day I knew most of the people around.I think our team winning the 1st prize was the icing on the cake! Dinner at the end of it all was great ( Infact after arriving at trivandrum ,this was the first time I had good food :)).
I had enjoyed the whole day. Here was I faced with the same question again 'I right in my decision?' .This time my heart and my mind said,Chill rajat you are going to rock the place. Infosys is the place for you.
I finally was sure of what I was doing!I had nothing to lose! I knew people here now. As far is food is concerned....did not matter anymore.
I had made the Right decision!
